Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Cleveland
The consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Cleveland comprises ten states: Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Missouri, Indiana, Iowa and Colorado. The consular district thus covers more than 664,000 square miles or 1,720,000 kilometers and more than 75 million inhabitants (as of 2010 Census).
The Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Cleveland is the only professional diplomatic/consular representation in the city of Cleveland and in the entire state of Ohio.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Slovenia and the United States (August 11, 1992) was accompanied by the opening of embassies in Washington and Ljubljana. The two countries set the basis for dialogue at all levels. The Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Washington was officially opened on August 21, 1992.
The main task of the Consulate General is promote all-round cooperation between the Republic of Slovenia and the States that comprise the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General, especially in all those fields in which both countries and their citizens as well as their economic, cultural and other organizations and institutions have particular interest and pays particular attention to the Slovenian community in the United States.
